Today is a good day here in the Football Transfer Tavern, the Welsh finally have something other than the Euros to talk about! News has made it’s way into the bar that they are set to battle it out with Stoke over one of the heroes of this summers European Championships.
According to reports in the Stoke Sentinel, Swansea are ready to put up a fight to bring Joe Allen – “remember him, from the Euros, in the semi-final?” one of our Welsh punters asks; enough of that – back to the Liberty Stadium.
The Welshman looks set to leave Anfield in the coming weeks with Stoke having had a bid of £13m accepted by Jurgen Klopp’s side on Thursday.
However, according to the Sentinel, the Swans are ready to offer up an improved bid for the 26-year-old, who followed Brendan Rodgers to Merseyside from Wales in 2012.
Allen was an integral part of Chris Coleman’s historic squad this summer and would be a top class asset to most Premier League sides.
Swansea fans, we want to hear from you! How much would you like to see your old boy back? Is £13m too much considering he only has a year left on his current deal at Liverpool? Let us know below…
