Top-class midfielder is the signing Aston Villa need this month

Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting increasingly agitated with their side, following a woeful start to the new season for the promotion hopefuls.

Steve Bruce’s side are yet to win in their opening three Championship games and occupy the relegation spots with just one point to their name following a draw with Hull City before enduring defeats against Cardiff and Reading.

The Birmingham-based side are under intense pressure to get their campaign back on track, especially as the target is to return to the Premier League as soon as possible, and the side have already been left frustrated by their inability last season to get back to the top-flight at the first-time of asking.

Bruce has so far yet to improve his squad drastically in the transfer market, spending just over £2m to bring 33-year-old Glenn Whelan and 29-year-old Ahmed Elmohamady into the side, as well as landing John Terry on a free transfer and Sam Johnstone and Josh Onamah on-loan from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

On the face of it, those additions are not enough to drag Aston Villa out of the mud and links with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere this week will have raised optimism, as the England international’s time in North London is up and he’s been left searching for the next step in his career.

A drop down to the Championship could aid Wilshere in his attempts to fend-off his injury struggles and get his career back-on-track and he has the ability to become one of the best players in the division, potentially acting as the catalyst that can lead Villa back to the Premier League.

Would Jack Wilshere be a good signing for Aston Villa? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
