After witnessing Jonathan Kodjia leaving for pastures new last summer, and bidding farewell to Tammy Abraham this Summer, Bristol City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been eagerly awaiting the signing of a striker.
Having been pulled into the battle for relegation last season, Lee Johnson will be hoping to improve upon their 17th placed finish and today’s news demonstrates a clear message of intent.
Incidentally, this is the same club from which Kodjia was bought in 2015, and the Robins supporters are hoping that their new striker will be able to emulate Kodjia’s successful spell at Bristol.
The Senegalese forward scored nine goals in 36 appearances for Angers last season, and he’s been capped by Senegal on six occasions.
The transfer is a club-record fee for Bristol City, and the striker is renowned for his proficient ability to compete in aerial duels.
Bristol City’s new striker is expected to fill the void left by Abraham’s departure – the 19-year-old scored 26 goals in all competitions for the Robins last season.
Diedhiou becomes Bristol’s second signing of the summer, following the arrival of defender Eros Pisano.
