It has been a very impressive campaign back in the Championship for Duane Holmes, hasn’t it? Holmes arrived from Scunthorpe United in the summer after a particularly impressive spell at the League One outfit. The American has previous in the Championship, having spent three seasons with Huddersfield Town there, after his promotion to the first-team, as well as a short-term loan at Yeovil Town.
Holmes was Derby County’s ninth signing just before the transfer window closed last summer. The 24-year-old signed for a reported £700,000, as per the Derby Telegraph, and although not many Rams fans knew much of Holmes, a lot of them welcomed him with open arms.

Despite his arrival, some fans did not seem sure as to how he would fit in given the number of players that were brought in under Frank Lampard.
This is getting rediculous now.

Holmes has exceeded expectations in his first season at Pride Park. He had to bide his time but he eventually gained a regular starting spot in November and has continued to feature across the midfield since. Holmes may have had to miss the play-off final, but it would come as no surprise to see he and Derby there once again in the coming years.
An exciting talent and one soon to enter his prime as this Rams side looks to build on what has been a decent enough campaign, things could get an awful lot better all-round.
