They have both been on top form this season, haven’t they? Both Billy Sharp and Che Adams have been crucial to their sides standings this season and having both just missed out on the Championship Player of the Year award, they will both be looking to finish the season very strongly.
With Birmingham City hosting Sheffield United tonight, both players have the chance to make their mark on the game as Sharp and Adams both continue to chase the golden boot for the division. Teemu Pukki is currently three and four goals ahead of them respectively, however, if either player was to make influence the game with a few goals then they would be hot on his heels.
With that being said, ahead of the fixture, let’s see who comes out on top…
It’s crazy to think that Sheffield signed Billy Sharp for just £635k (as per Transfermarkt) back in 2015.
Sharp has taken his game to the next level this year after a solid campaign in the Championship last season, where he was on target 13 times. Yet still, he has continued to age like a fine win as at 33, he has bettered that tally by 10 so far in the Blades’ promotion-chasing campaign and there are still six games left.
The Englishman has performed consistently for the past four seasons now and has been a key figure during Chris Wilder’s spell in South Yorkshire, so there is no reason as to why he will not step up to the plate once again against Birmingham.

Adams will be facing his former club tonight, having moved from United to Birmingham three years ago this summer. The 22-year-old has always impressed, but this is his first breakout season in terms of a high goalscoring tally as he has netted 22 goals in the League so far this season.
He excels when in a striking duo with a partner to play off which is why he and Lukas Jutkiewicz work so well together. If Adams continues such form in the coming years, a Premier League side will surely look to snap up his services to get the best out of him during his prime.

Both players could easily turn the game on its head at the kick of a ball, but Sharp could just edge Adams in this one.
Despite the latter having more potential as he is still in his early 20’s, Sharp has now been performing consistently for United for years upon years now as he has been so ever-reliable in front of goal.
Sharp does come out on top for now, but with the rate of Adams’ rise, it is unlikely that will last for too long.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
