Birmingham City fans will be praying that their side can avoid relegation after the recent nine-point deduction, while West Bromwich Albion build towards securing promotion to the Premier League.
Garry Monk has done a terrific job at St Andrew’s in the current campaign as he brought the Blues within touching distance of the play-offs. Meanwhile, the Baggies are looking strong under James Shan having won their last two games in the Championship.
Interestingly, Birmingham City will travel to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion tonight in the Championship. Both sides will be desperate to secure all three points with the possibility of relegation now a worry for the Blues and the Baggies still hunting an automatic promotion place.
With that being said, let’s compared the two players…
The former Sheffield United man joined the Blues for £1.98 million (as per Transfermarkt), and it’s safe to say that he’s proved to be a genius signing at St Andrew’s.
Che Adams has been simply sensational in the current campaign having established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in the Championship by producing 21 goals and four assists.
The Englishman deserves to be playing in the Premier League and he may get the chance to make the step up this summer with Birmingham now fighting at the wrong end of the table.
TT GRADE: A
Dwight Gayle has definitely impressed for the Baggies since making the move to the Hawthorns back in the summer transfer window, but he’s struggled of late as he’s failed to score in his last six Championship fixtures.
Indeed, the forward hasn’t quite shown enough to warrant a step up to the Premier League with either Newcastle or the Baggies next season, so his future could consist of operating in the Championship if things don’t improve.
TT GRADE: B+
When comparing these two, it’s safe to say that Adams has enjoyed more success this season having impressed throughout the current campaign, with goals ever-present in the Championship.
Adams has turned the tables on Gayle this season as the Birmingham City man looks like the Premier League player, not the West Bromwich Albion loanee. Indeed, Adams has been nothing short of brilliant with his pace, power and finishing ability making life difficult for pretty much every defence, so he’ll be the man to make the step up.
