Derby County currently sit just inside the play-off places in sixth position, while Nottingham Forest are down in ninth position with their sights set on a play-off place.
The Rams have certainly impressed under Frank Lampard in the current campaign, but they just haven’t been able to ensure consistency right the way through. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have taken a while to get going under Martin O’Neill, but they’ll still feel confident that they can reach the play-offs.
Derby County and Nottingham Forest are East Midlands rivals and they currently have two of the best attackers in the Championship at their disposal, so we took a look at Harry Wilson and Joe Lolley’s influence.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
Frank Lampard secured the services of Harry Wilson on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool back in the summer transfer window, and it’s safe to say that he’s proved to be the signing of the summer for Derby County.
The Wales international has 12 goals and four assists to his name at this moment in time, with his overall performances at Pride Park making him a hero already.
Indeed, the winger will inevitably go on to secure a first-team place at Liverpool next season having shown enough quality to earn regular minutes in the Premier League, so the Rams will want to make the most of him.
TT GRADE: A
Joe Lolley has been superb since joining Nottingham Forest for a reported (per Sky Bet) £500k last year.
The attacker has gone on to establish himself as arguably the best player at the City Ground this season, with an impressive eight goals and eight assists to his name at this moment in time.
Nottingham Forest’s play-off hopes will depend on how Lolley performs from here on in until the end of the season, with a goal against Wigan Athletic last time out helping point them in the right direction.
TT GRADE: A
When comparing these two, it’s safe to say that Wilson and Lolley are both performing at the top of their game in the Championship this season, with goals and assists being produced on a consistent basis.
The Welshman has made a name for himself with his free-kicks and goals from distance, but that’s not all he offers as his creativity in the final third has helped the Rams thrive.
On the other hand, Lolley has proved to be a special find for Forest as he continues to contribute in the final third, with long-range strikes also in his armoury.
Both players have established themselves as stars in the Championship this season, but it’s too hard to separate them at this moment in time as they both continue to lead by example, with 16 contributions apiece.
