Nottingham Forest overcame Barnsley 1-0 thanks to a Ben Watson strike with one player flying below the radar for Sabri Lamouchi’s side (via BBC).
The Reds maintained their unbeaten run thanks to the goal from the veteran midfielder, which came early in the second half for Forest.
There was a monstrous performance from Michael Dawson, who proved to be a wall for the east Midland side. The former Tottenham Hotspur man made the joint-second most clearances and blocks of any players in the Forest squad (via WhoScored).
Brice Samba also performed well as he kept his fifth clean sheet of the season. The Congo international made five saves and performed three punches as he kept out a spirited Barnsley side.
Matty Cash also performed to standard as he stood in for the injured Carl Jenkinson. The right-back made the joint-most blocks and assisted Watson for the winning goal in the 56th minute.
However, it was Joe Worrall who proved just as useful for Forest without getting as many plaudits as his teammates. Worrall made the joint-third most tackles and the most clearances of any player in the side. Indeed, the central defender also proved tidy in possession as he was one of only two players not to have lost possession in Saturday’s game.
The Nottingham Post agreed with this take on Worrall’s performance as they gave the defender a eight out of 10, comparing his partnership with Dawson, to one the veteran defender had in his younger years.
They said: “You could get away with copying and pasting Dawson’s spiel. He just looks so comfortable and composed next to the captain.”
“It genuinely does remind me of the young Dawson/Des Walker partnership all those years ago.” (Source: The Nottingham Post)
Forest have kept three clean sheets in their last four games as they centre-back pairing of Worrall and Dawson grows ever stronger.
