How will Darren Moore respond after the hammering at Elland Road over a week ago? Now he and his staff have had time to reflect on the game, they will be looking to put the result behind them and continue to solidify their spot in the playoffs.
West Bromwich Albion are not in the richest vein of form at the moment, having lost their previous two games. However, they cannot be criticised too heavily given that the defeats were to two of just three sides that are ahead of them in the Championship.
Even still, the Baggies will be looking to get back to winning ways later today against Ipswich Town who are slumped at the bottom of the table so if there was a fixture that, on paper, they should be bouncing back from, it would be this game.
With that in mind, here is one player Moore should start and another he should bench this afternoon…
Start Matt Phillips
Phillips looks set to return from an ankle injury that has been bothering him since just after the turn of the year. Moore confirmed the 27-year-old’s availability as he told the media that “Matty is okay and should be fine for Saturday.”
The Scotsman should not be rushed back and overloaded with minutes, but if he is fit, he needs game time to build his match sharpness and try to get back into a rhythm once again.
Prior to his injury, on form, he was one of the best performers in the division as he had amounted five goals and six assists before the New Year so if he can get back to anywhere near that level again, he will be a key asset for Moore.
Robson-Kanu has featured regularly in the Championship this season, playing 26 times, but just 11 of them have been starts.
One of the starts was in the recent loss to Leeds United where he was brought off on the 70′ minute mark for Jefferson Montero. If Phillips starts, he will almost certainly move straight back in on the right-wing and offer a very different outlet in comparison to the Welshman, but one that has reaped rewards and could continue to do so against Ipswich.
