Tottenham are reportedly plotting a summer move for Nathan Ferguson after the West Brom star failed to complete a move to Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day due to a medical issue.
Football Insider claim that Spurs will offer the Championship leaders £4m for the 19-year-old defender who was close to joining the Eagles on the final day of the January transfer window after West Brom agreed an £8m fee for Ferguson, but a knee injury that has kept the full-back out of action over the past few weeks was seen as a red flag by Palace and the deal collapsed (per The Express and Star).
Ferguson’s deal with West Brom expires this summer but The Athletic report that the defender could be swayed in signing a new contract with West Brom if Slaven Bilic’s side gain promotion back up to the Premier League.
This isn’t the first time Tottenham have been credited with being interested in Ferguson, with The Mirror reporting last month that Spurs were leading the pack for the defender’s signature at the start of the transfer window before Crystal Palace’s late push for the fullback.
Yet with Ferguson failing to complete a move to the south London club, Tottenham could be spurred on to try themselves in signing the defender just before the end of this season, with Jose Mourinho seemingly keen on signing a new right-back with Spurs also being heavily reported with a move for Norwich City prodigy Max Aarons (per The Sun)
Will Nathan Ferguson will leave West Brom in the summer?
The future of Ferguson remains as confusing as it was at the start of 2020, but with the defender now seemingly warming to the option of remaining with West Brom if the Baggies can secure promotion to the Premier League, it would appear Bilic and the Albion transfer committee have some leverage in keeping him should they be able to return to the top tier.
