West Brom: Fans grow concerned over Matheus Pereira future - West Brom

West Bromwich Albion fans are growing concerned over the future of Matheus Pereira, who was set to complete a permanent move to the Hawthorns.

Slaven Bilic’s West Brom side have been in excellent form this season, sitting second in the Championship table as things stand and on route to a Premier League promotion.

With football at a standstill due to the recent pandemic, concerns have developed about whether or not the current season will continue or be cancelled, potentially following suit to Ligue 1, who cancelled their season earlier this week.

One player who has been in excellent form this season has been Pereira, who has been arguably the best player in England’s second flight since arriving on loan from Sporting Lisbon last summer. Indeed, he has scored six goals and provided 16 assists in 33 appearances (Transfermarkt).

The Brazilian playmaker is also a concern for Baggies fans, who have questioned whether or not an agreed permanent transfer will still go ahead this summer.

Pereira’s loan deal to the Hawthorns included an ‘obligation to buy‘ after 30/35 league appearances or gaining promotion to the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder has made 33 Championship appearances but question marks over the deal have now arose.

Reacting to a tweet from The Athletic’s Steve Madeley (@SteveMadeley78), fans questioned if the deal would still be completed…
