A number of West Brom fans hailed a report from The Independent claiming that the Football Association has told Premier League clubs that the season must be finished by ‘sporting merit’ (as shared by @BaggiesHQ on Twitter).
The FA announced that the Premier League season must be decided on "sporting merit" and taken voiding the season OFF the table.

In that event, key issues such as the identity of the champions, the European qualification berths and the relegation places must be settled either on the pitch or, if that becomes impossible, a weighted mathematical formula taking points per game into account. Voiding the season and scrapping relegation appears to be off the table completely. [via The Independent]
If the Premier League season can resume and relegation remains in effect, that will surely come as a huge boon to Leeds and West Brom, the current top two in the Championship, as it would preserve the need for clubs to be promoted to the top flight to replace those being relegated. Slaven Bilic’s Baggies are currently occupying the second automatic promotion place with a six-point lead over nearest challengers Fulham.
Do you think West Brom will be playing in the Premier League next season?
These West Brom fans on Twitter welcomed the FA’s stance, believing that their chances of promotion have been greatly boosted as a result:

Spent most of the season top. It’s a cert.

We’re 2nd, 6 pts clear of Fulham and on PPG we’d still finish second.
Add to this we’ve got arguably one of if not the best squads and managers in the division, means I’m confident enough.

This means we are up then
