West Brom: Goals from Dwight Gayle are as good a banker as you can get

What crisis? The way West Bromwich Albion destroyed Preston North End on Saturday, it didn’t really seem like the club were dealing with any problems.

To their benefit, the visitors were absolutely shocking defensively, something which Dwight Gayle pounced upon like a lion.

Indeed, the loanee from Newcastle United was in top form at the Hawthorns, scoring a brilliant hat-trick to regain his goal-scoring touch before the play-offs. What an asset he is for you Baggies.

It took his goal-scoring tally to 21 for the season, but his performance was just more than the goals. More than anything, the mobile striker looks to be enjoying life at West Brom again.

He’s now scored four in two games, hitting top form at the right point of the season. Despite all of West Brom’s troubles in defence, they’re still a formidable unit going forward. Gayle further enhances their lethality up front and his incisive movement, predatorial scoring sense and deft finishing skills must’ve impressed fans.

While the Baggies managerial job is still up in the air, whoever takes charge will surely build their style around Gayle this season. He’s linking up with Jay Rodriguez really well, pouncing on the little chances he gets and proving a menace with his agility in the final third.

In the lottery of the play-offs, goals from the former Crystal Palace ace are surely one of few guarantees.

The Baggies are now very close to assuring a place in the top six. Furthermore, with West Brom needing to take their performance-level up a notch to win Premier Leauge promotion, they’ll be pleased with Gayle’s stunning goal-scoring form which could be decisive towards overpowering oppositions going forward.

West Brom fans, do you think Gayle can play a decisive role in the playoffs? Join the discussion by commenting below…
