In order to wither the storm ahead and win back promotion to the Premier League, West Bromwich Albion needs all hands on deck.
This means the Baggies need their important figures to start firing together, especially hoping inspired right-winger Matt Phillips finds back his lethal form after an injury lay-off.
The right-winger’s been unable to adapt to Jimmy Shan’s system properly, mostly because he hasn’t had many minutes to do so. After recovering from an injury, he’s only made two substitute appearances in recent games as he aims to find back full fitness.
Shan, on the other hand, will want his exciting winger to be firing on all cylinders quickly.
Before his injury issues, Phillips was a core reason for the Baggies thrilling attacking football under Darren Moore. He’s scored 5 goals and assisted 7, bringing entertainment to fans with his sizzling style. Phillips’ pace, trickery down the wing and fantastic crossing ability allowed the Baggies score goals on a regular basis.
Shan needs his creativity and pitch-perfect delivery to topple formidable oppositions going forward. Phillips has averaged 2 key passes, 1.6 dribbles per game this season (stats via WhoScored), as the Baggies are craving his incisive style to penetrate through defences and dominate games better.
As a handful of games remain in the league season, Phillips needs to work hard to attain full fitness. If he manages to get his irresistible swagger back in West Brom’s attack, exciting times could be lying wait in the play-off stages.
