A considerable restructure is surely set to take place at West Bromwich Albion in the summer and they’ll set up the team depending on whether they attain promotion or not.
However, regardless of whatever happens this season, they cannot afford a fire sale involving their biggest assets after May.
There are certain suitors already prowling their best talent, with Newcastle United being an interested party. According to reports (via TeamTalk), the Magpies are aiming to do a mega-swap deal with the Baggies this summer. This would involve loanees Jacob Murphy and Dwight Gayle moving to West Brom, in place of Salomon Rondon, Jake Livermore and Kieran Gibbs.
Not only would this deal leave a huge gap in West Brom’s core, but it’d also be giving away years of hard work into establishing these talents. Rondon’s departure looks inevitable, but they can’t let go of important stars like Livermore and Gibbs. Both have been crucial towards maintaining a rhythm in their game, shining through in respective roles.
Livermore’s been their heart in midfield, while Gibbs has added electricity to their attack and also done well with his defensive duties. Letting go of these will force them to look for other options in the market all over again.
Despite Gayle and Murphy both being key towards helping them play sleek, attractive attacking style, the Baggies cannot lose those who ensure their smooth attacking philosophy. Losing only Rondon and gaining any one of two attackers is acceptable, yet losing three such experienced players would bring catastrophic consequences.
