West Brom have been far from convincing in recent weeks but do still remain in with a great chance at gaining promotion this season. To be fair, for you Baggies reading this, we doubt it matters how you get there, after all…
The Championship has certainly thrown up a greater challenge than Baggies fans probably would have anticipated, meaning West Brom were unable to win automatic promotion.
Having settled in the mix of the play-off places, West Brom now have to deliver their very best performances in order to make promotion possible. Their squad is simply too good not to, really. Indeed, after sacking Darren Moore too, the club need to prove they know what they’re doing.
Team rotation is something that isn’t advisable at this stage, though next season, wherever they find themselves, West Brom must look at making some changes. One that requires no money is giving Sam Field more game-time, as the youngster has been involved in just 11 Championship games this season.
Field, (who is valued at £1.3 million on Transfermarkt) is rated very-highly at West Brom, though his infrequent use has restricted his progress this season.
With high levels of intelligence and skill, Sam Field is without a doubt a player that West Brom have severely underused and that must change. Having played in central-midfield as well as centre-back this season, Sam Field then appeals to the Baggies in more than one way.
His quality is obviously important but the fact that he is versatile and can adapt to a number of positions surely makes him a far better option for West Brom and one they have to use more.
It would be risky to embed him within the team for the play-offs but there is no reason to suggest he wouldn’t be of use in either division West Brom maybe in next season.
