West Bromwich Albion: Fans gush over Jake Livermore’s performance - West Brom

West Bromwich Albion may have been able to see off the challenge of Bristol City with some ease on Saturday afternoon, but it appears many of the club’s faithful felt that was down to the performance of Jake Livermore in the middle of the park.

Indeed, the win for Slaven Bilic’s side meant they would keep control of the Championship for another Saturday as they kept their four-point advantage over promotion rivals Leeds United with the victory in the south-west of the country.

Whilst Livermore did not get himself on the scoresheet, it seems many of the WBA supporters were delighted with what they had witnessed from their skipper and left a number of superlatives to describe him on Twitter throughout and following the game at Ashton Gate.

In fact, according to data collected by WhoScored, the 30-year-old appeared to be one of the better players on the pitch, as they handed him a match rating of 8.15 and perhaps justifying why fans were left waxing lyrical over his performance.

Livermore managed four attempts at goal (with two being registered as on target), played two key passes, made a whopping 10 tackles and one interception (per WhoScored) as he helped the Baggies to seal all three points.

One fan even compared his performance to that of Claude Makelele, who earned himself as a reputation for his tackling and even had a position on the pitch named after him in the ‘Makelele Role’.

Here are what just some of the club’s faithful were left saying on social media…
