West Bromwich Albion: Fans reminisce over former player Kevin Phillips

West Bromwich Albion fans have been reminiscing over the win away to Ipswich Town back in 2006, a game which Kevin Phillips scored a hat-trick in.
The Baggies romped to a 5-1 win over Ipswich after the trio of goals from the Englishman, with Diomansy Kamara completing the scoring with a brace.
After the former West Brom forward opened the scoring, Ipswich hit back through Chris Perry. Phillips and Kamara then shared two goals each to complete the rout.
Phillips enjoyed a brilliant career with the Midlands side, scoring 46 goals and getting a further 17 assists in 80 games in two seasons at the Hawthorns (via Transfermarkt).
Despite the 46-year-old’s goalscoring feat, he couldn’t fire them into the Premier League, with West Brom losing to Derby County in the 2007 Championship play-off final.
Fans remembered the game and their former striker with great fondness as they took to Twitter to reminisce over the fixture.
Here is a selection of tweets from the West Brom fans:
One of my favourite away days. One of the goals (Philips’ third I think) was brilliant – counterattacking at its best

Loved Super Kev, it’s a pity we only had his services for 2 seasons, had tones of juice left in the tank
