West Bromwich Albion: Fans tear into Matheus Pereira - West Brom

A plethora of West Bromwich Albion fans were far from impressed with what they saw from Matheus Pereira on Saturday afternoon and took to social media to leave their reactions regarding the Brazilian’s recent performance.

Indeed, it was a bad weekend for Slaven Bilic’s Baggies as they failed to make the most of Leeds United’s early thumping of Hull City (BBC) and were in fact left looking over their shoulder once the afternoon came to an end due to the surprising defeat to Wigan Athletic.

Sam Morsy’s goal upset the hosts and has subsequently left them just a point ahead of their promotion rivals in the race for top spot of the Championship table, although a gap between second and third has started to build (BBC).

Nonetheless, fans would have been disappointed to have seen their side drop points, especially in front of their own crowd at The Hawthorns, however it seems some were angry with what they saw from Pereira throughout the 90 minutes he was on the field.

According to WhoScored’s data, the 23-year-old found it difficult to have a major influence on the game, as he managed just one shot, one key pass and failed to make a single successful dribble as he was handed a rather sub-par 5.98 match rating – only slightly better than Kamil Grosicki’s, although he did enter the game with 30 minutes left to play.

Some fans called for Pereira to be dropped ahead of their upcoming fixture with Newcastle United in the FA Cup, whilst others quite simply slammed him and suggested that it was the worst performance they had seen from him in a West Brom shirt.

Here are just some of their reactions…
