West Bromwich Albion fans lauded their goalkeeper Sam Johnstone following his comments on his penalty save from Martyn Waghorn in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Derby County.
The Rams were awarded two penalties in the Championship game, with Waghorn stroking home the first one. However, the Englishman turned hero when he dived full stretch to deny the Derby attacker a second goal from the penalty spot.
West Brom rescued a point after Kenneth Zohore struck home his second penalty in as many games late on in the match.
Commenting on his save, the 26-year-old said it was tough to know which way Waghorn would go, but he was glad to be able to help out the Baggies in getting a point.
Johnstone joined West Brom from Premier League side Manchester United for £6.5m in last summer’s transfer window.
He has since helped the Midlands club reach the Championship play-offs, where they lost on penalties to Aston Villa.
Fans were happy with the comments from their shot-stopper and took to Twitter to praise Johnstone.
Here is a selection of tweets from West Brom fans:

Quality but there will still be fans out there trying to pick faults and blame him for their goal as per usual
