Nottingham Forest haven’t exactly been able to ensure consistency under Martin O’Neill in recent times but they somehow still find themselves in the race for a play-off place in the Championship.
Many Forest fans will agree that Lewis Grabban’s absence has been costly as they’ve lacked consistency in the final third, which has resulted in a number of points being dropped.
Indeed, one player who certainly hasn’t helped the cause is Leo Bonatini. The Brazilian joined on loan from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers back in the summer transfer window, but he’s failed to have any kind of positive impact on proceedings with zero goals in five Championship appearances.
The worrying thing for Nottingham Forest fans is the fact that Bonatini has already stated that he wants to stay at the City Ground beyond this season, according to Birmingham Live.
“Yes, of course,” he said, when asked if he wanted to extend his time at the club.“It is a really good team and they have very good conditions here.
“Even if we don’t achieve the play-offs and we are staying in the Championship next season, I would like to stay because I have found it really good.”
Nottingham Forest have the option to make his loan deal a permanent one in the summer transfer window but it doesn’t look as if that will happen when you consider his performances thus far. He often loses the ball, looks useless in attack and his goalscoring record speaks for itself, so fans will be praying that he leaves this summer rather than signing a permanent deal at the City Ground.
