The Lancashire Telegraph have run quotes from Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray that hint towards some talented youngsters being on their way to Ewood Park on loan.
Mowbray has suggested that some exciting young players could be joining Rovers on loan from some big Premier League clubs this summer.
These kinds of arrivals would be great news for Rovers, as they are essentially a win-win deal for the club. The young players will be desperate for game time and to impress, but if they fall short of the standards required then their deals can be cut short and the whole thing shall have passed at no, or at least very little, cost to the club.
Now Rovers fans will be keen to find out who it is that may be arriving on a temporary deal this summer.
At 22, Rolando Aarons is fast approaching the point where he needs to fully convince that he has a future at Newcastle United.
The former England under-20 international spent a spell on loan in Serie A with Hellas Verona last term, but a stint closer to home may be more beneficial to his long term prospects this time around.
Aarons would be a smart addition to Mowbray’s squad, giving him an extra wide option to compete with the ageing Craig Conway.
Southampton’s Sam Gallagher has been with Blackburn before, having spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Ewood Park. That campaign remains his most successful to date, and after a struggle with Birmingham City last season, a return Rovers could be the best thing for the 22-year-old.
Gallagher has already shown that he can score goals for Rovers at this level and will be desperate to prove himself capable of making the step up to being a regular for his parent club, Southampton, in the top flight.
Another good season with the Lancashire outfit could be what puts him in the picture with the Saints.
