# Leeds: Alex Crook says Southampton could entertain Che Adams offers

**Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) could make a move for Southampton’s Che Adams, as per [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88041643-leeds-could-make-shock-move-for-74-goal-premier-league-star-at-elland-road).**

### The Lowdown: Adams linked with Leeds

Andrea Radrizzani has fulfilled his [promise](https://theathletic.com/news/leeds-radrizzani-marsch-transfers/O6y0KuqwYl8A/) when it comes to first-team signings this summer, with the Whites forking out just [under £100m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/transfers/verein/399) so far on a number of new players.

There could still be more to come, with Victor Orta and Leeds in the market for a new centre-forward over the coming weeks. The club [have missed out on](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-target-charles-de-24632718) primary target Charles De Ketelaere, with [rumours](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-whites-eyeing-shock-che-adams-move/) in recent days suggesting that a shock move for Adams is on the agenda.

### The Latest: Crook’s comments

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88041643-leeds-could-make-shock-move-for-74-goal-premier-league-star-at-elland-road), Crook said he has been told that Leeds still want a new forward and that a move for Adams could be ‘one to keep an eye on’, with Southampton potentially open to offers.

He stated:

> “I was told they want to bring in a centre forward and I’ve been told that Southampton could be willing to listen to offers for Che Adams, who’s been on their list before.
>
> “Whether they would meet the asking price I don’t know, but maybe that’s one to keep an eye on.”

### The Verdict: Last resort?

[Phil Hay](https://theathletic.com/3464667/2022/08/01/leeds-united-rodrigo-cagliari/) believes that a move for Adams could materialise late in the transfer window if Leeds fail to land alternative options, name-checking Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo and Rennes’ Martin Terrier.

He may well be lower on the list and not an eye-catching name to Leeds supporters, however, he could still be a shrewd signing to challenge the likes of Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt, as you could argue that he is in the prime of his career at the age of 26.

Adams, who has been dubbed [‘amazing’](https://twitter.com/AlanBiggs1/status/1279844038120747008) by reporter Alan Biggs in the past, has scored [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/bilanz/spieler/346779) times against Leeds in previous meetings and has contributed to [31](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346779/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/180) Premier League goals in [96](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346779/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/180) appearances, so bringing him to Yorkshire may be a solid piece of prospective business from the Whites.
