# Chelsea backed to land exceptional striker next summer

![Griezmann](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Griezmann-500x349.jpg)Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been searching high and low for good news for weeks and it appears they’ve finally found something to be positive about.

[Spanish football expert Terry Gibson told *Sky Sports* that he believes Chelsea will land Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10092638/antoine-griezmann-may-join-chelsea-in-part-exchange-for-diego-costa-next-summer-says-terry-gibson)

The Blues have been woeful this season, with their front-line looking particularly suspect, and [Gibson believes a swap-deal involving Diego Costa will be made eventually.](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10092638/antoine-griezmann-may-join-chelsea-in-part-exchange-for-diego-costa-next-summer-says-terry-gibson)

> ‘If you were Griezmann and in any way interested in going to the Premier League, then you would still look upon a club like Chelsea as an attractive proposition. I do not think \[a move\] does \[depend on Chelsea finishing in the top four\].’
>
> ‘It is being talked about a lot and from the outside there is surely a swap there with Griezmann and Diego Costa somewhere along the line.’
>
> ‘I do not expect that to happen in January as that does not suit either club, because if they are both in the Champions League then they will have a player they cannot use. So Griezmann will stay put until the summer.’

For Chelsea this would be an exceptional deal, as they would offload a toxic and underperforming player in Diego Costa and land a forward widely regarded as one of the best attacking prospects in European football.

Griezmann’s price-tag could skyrocket with an impressive performance for France at next summer’s European Championships though, which is something Chelsea fans at the pool table are extremely wary of.
