However, whilst Robertson managed to complete the cross to allow Mohamed Salah to score a tap-in against Manchester City, Emerson only managed to find Ederson as he took on a shot [(via JTmeshal)](https://twitter.com/JTmeshal/status/1198850188976279552).

Robertson has proven to be one of the most consistent left-backs in the Premier League over the last few seasons, having assisted the second-most goals of any defender last term [(via Premier League)](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goal_assist?se=210).

He has carried that form into this season as he sits second in the table for assists, behind only [Kevin De Bruyne](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goal_assist?se=210).

Meanwhile, Palmieri has assisted just [four goals in 43 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/emerson/leistungsdaten/spieler/181778) across all competitions for the Blues since [joining from Serie A](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11229710/emerson-palmieri-completes-move-from-roma-to-chelsea) last year.

Fans were blasting their defender after watching the clip of the two players as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the Stamford Bridge faithful, with some fans quick to bring Marcos Alonso’s name into the conversation:
