# Chelsea: Fans ecstatic after Callum Hudson-Odoi received England call-up on 19th birthday

**Chelsea fans are ecstatic after Callum Hudson-Odoi received a call-up to the England squad for their upcoming international games — on his 19th birthday.**

The 19-year-old has been rewarded for his return to fitness by manager Gareth Southgate, who praised his dedication and motivation after his quick return [(via Evening Standard)](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/gareth-southgate-hails-callum-hudsonodoi-dedication-after-england-recall-says-door-not-closed-walker-a4281561.html).

Hudson-Odoi has been flying since his coming back from the Achilles injury he suffered towards the back end of last season, contributing three assists in just five Premier League appearances [(via Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-hudson-odoi/leistungsdaten/spieler/392768).

He came off the bench to devastating effect in the 4-4 draw at home to Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, playing the joint-third most key passes of any Chelsea player in a 30-minute cameo [(via WhoScored)](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1426978/LiveStatistics/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2019-2020-Chelsea-Ajax).

Fans are over the moon with his call-up to the England senior side following his return to fitness as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the west London faithful:
