The German is Frank Lampard’s [second signing of the summer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-chelsea/transfers/verein/631/saison_id/2020) and has finally joined fellow new recruit Hakim Ziyech at Cobham. Werner makes his move to the west London outfit after spending his [entire career in the Bundesliga](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-werner/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/170527). Undoubtedly, the Premier League should be an exciting challenge for both Werner to take on and fans to watch.

The [official Chelsea Instagram account](https://www.instagram.com/p/CDMSsLSJVnn/?utm_source=ig_embed) has posted two photos of the 24-year-old in action on the training pitch. Werner agreed terms with Chelsea after [months of speculation](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12000924/timo-werner-why-liverpool-move-did-not-happen-ahead-of-chelsea-switch) linking him to a move to rivals Liverpool. In a shock twist, he put pen to paper for the Blues in a £47.5m transfer to the capital (via [Goal.com](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/chelsea-complete-475m-werner-signing-from-rb-leipzig/1t6z6acsgu5wy1lk6woiswqye9)).

After an impressive end to the season by Olivier Giroud, and Tammy Abraham also netting [15 Premier League goals,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/profil/spieler/331726) the fight for a spot in the starting lineup will be fierce. Werner looks set to be the centre of attention after his blistering 2019/20 campaign with RB Leipzig in which he scored 28 goals in the Bundesliga to see him finish only behind top scorer Robert Lewandowski for the season (via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/german-bundesliga/top-scorers)).

It’s unlikely that the 24-year-old will be the Blues’ last signing of the summer, as they [continue to circle for further high-profile names](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/chelsea-transfer-news-rumours-live-18679114) to bolster their squad.
