# Chelsea: Fans fawn over Tariq Lamptey after brace in Leasing.com Trophy exit

**Chelsea fans were fawning over Tariq Lamptey after the teenager scored a brace in the development squad’s 3-2 defeat away to Walsall last night.**

The 19-year-old opened the scoring in just the third minute of the game as he slotted into an empty net after a cross from Marc Guehi [(via Chelsea)](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/12/03/leasing-com-trophy-report--walsall-chelsea).

He then doubled the side’s lead just seven minutes later when he fired in after a pass from [Tino Anjorin](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/12/03/leasing-com-trophy-report--walsall-chelsea).

The Ghanaian has been in superb form for the club’s development squad this season, making 16 appearances, scoring one goal and assisting a further two in all competitions. It has seen him earn a call up to the first-team squad as he sat on the bench in the 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup [(via Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tariq-lamptey/leistungsdaten/spieler/504148).

Fans were lavishing the youngster with praise after his goalscoring performance as they took to Twitter to react.
