# Chelsea: Fans praise N’Golo Kante after Dean Smith’s comment

**Chelsea fans have been praising N’Golo Kante after comments from Aston Villa manager Dean Smith on the French midfielder.**

Smith came out after the game and said that at one point during the encounter he thought there was ‘three Kantes’ on the pitch [(via football.london)](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/chelsea-lampard-press-conference-live-17365089).

He also received high praise from manager [Frank Lampard](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/chelsea-lampard-press-conference-live-17365089), who claimed that he doesn’t have to say much to the player before a game.

The France international was in superb form during the game against the Villans, making the most interceptions and the joint-second-most blocks of any Chelsea player ([via WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376067/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Chelsea-Aston-Villa)).

Kante has suffered a stop-start campaign so far this year, featuring in just 11 of the 23 games across all competitions ([via Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ngolo-kante/leistungsdaten/spieler/225083)).

Fans were extremely complimentary of the midfielder following the praise from Smith as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the west London faithful:
