# Chelsea: Fans react as Marc Guehi signs new deal

**Defender Marc Guehi has penned a new deal with Chelsea, committing himself to the west London club [until 2022](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/09/02/marc-guehi-extends-chelsea-contract).**

The 19-year-old has started the season brightly for the Blues’ development squad, captaining the side as they sit top of the Premier League 2 table having [won two and drawn two](https://www.flashscore.com/team/chelsea/lz3CFgdg/results/) of their opening four fixtures.

Guehi was also part of the Chelsea squad that travelled to Ireland during pre-season, [featuring for the Blues](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/09/02/marc-guehi-extends-chelsea-contract) in the first-half of their game against Bohemians in Dublin.

He is tipped to have a big future at Stamford Bridge, especially with Frank Lampard now in charge of the first-team.

The former Blues midfielder is really starting to show trust in the club’s younger players – something that hasn’t been seen at Chelsea in recent history, which makes for good news for Guehi, who could be integrated into the senior squad if he continues to impress for the club’s U23s.

Chelsea tweeted the news that the 19-year-old had signed a new deal on Monday evening, and while many fans were supportive in congratulating the youngster, there were quite a few who were more interested in updates on one of the club’s regular first-team starters…

> Stop mentioning other players, let’s congratulate him. Well done Marc 🤘💙🔵
