# Chelsea: Fans react to Emerson contract talks

**After seeing a lack of game-time under both Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri is now emerging as the Blues’ first choice left-back in Frank Lampard’s new-look side at Stamford Bridge.**

The Italian has started all [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/emerson/profil/spieler/181778) of Chelsea’s first Premier League matches this term, limiting former mainstay Marcos Alonso to a [single minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcos-alonso/profil/spieler/112515) off the bench against Norwich City a fortnight ago.

Considering the fact that prior to this season, Emerson had made just [15 league appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/emerson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/181778/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=) for the west Londoners in two seasons, the 25-year-old will surely be delighted to have finally broken through to the first-team on a regular basis.

The Italy international will now look to continue with his impressive form – which has seen him average [3.8 tackles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/101955/History/Emerson) so far – when he returns to league action for his club later this week.

[Goal](https://twitter.com/goal) are reporting that Chelsea have opened talks with the defender regarding a potential new deal, and it’s fair to say that fans of the club are delighted with that news. Here’s how they reacted on Twitter…
