# Chelsea: Fans react to Reece James injury update

**Reece James had only just returned from injury when he faced Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup a fortnight ago.**

\[freshpress-poll id=”249840″\]

The Chelsea full-back [scored and assisted](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reece-james/leistungsdaten/spieler/472423) during the Blues’ 7-1 win over the Mariners at Stamford Bridge, with [many fans](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/chelsea/chelsea-many-fans-were-happy-with-reece-james-debut/) of the west London club excited about what the future has in store for the 19-year-old.

James was called into Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21 squad for the Young Lions’ upcoming matches against Slovenia and Austria, but was withdrawn yesterday due to concerns about his fitness, per the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea/chelsea-duo-reece-james-and-trevoh-chalobah-withdraw-from-england-under21-squad-over-fitness-a4258826.html).

Unsurprisingly, James’ withdrawal from the England squad caused concern for Chelsea fans, who [have enjoyed what they have seen](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/chelsea/chelsea-many-fans-were-happy-with-reece-james-debut/) from him so far.

The teenager was an [unused sub](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reece-james/leistungsdaten/spieler/472423) for the Blues’ league matches against Brighton and Southampton.

[Reports on Twitter](https://twitter.com/NizaarKinsella/status/1182332098004357121) suggest that James’ injury isn’t serious, though, and that he should return to training next week; much to the delight of these Chelsea fans…
