Chelsea backed to swoop for Mohammed Kudus -Chelsea News

Chelsea could make a move for Ajax and Ghana star Mohammed Kudus, according to transfer expert Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Showing promise

Of Ghana’s collaborative five goal haul throughout the World Cup group stages, Kudus chipped in with two to that tally, ultimately ranking as far and away his side’s best player on the world stage.

His efforts will surely make Alfred Schreuder reconsider his lack of domestic starts, with the Ghanian star making just 5 out of a possible 14 Eredivisie lineups at the Johan Cruyff Arena, still managing to grab five goals in the Dutch top flight.

The Latest: Chelsea watching?

According to transfer expert Jones, a Chelsea bid for Kudus would come as no surprise, given their current transfer strategy.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “Given their current recruitment drive and the approach that they’re taking to new signings, he does kind of fit the bill, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see them drawn towards him soon.”

First up in this Chelsea World Cup quiz, the Blues have how many players in the England squad for Qatar 2022?

The Verdict: Shrewd investment

Having scored just 17 goals this season in a metric that ranks them as the seventh-lowest scorers in the Premier League, Chelsea are in need of more direct threats.

£40million Kudus is exactly that, having topped the charts for shots per 90 for Ajax with around 4.5 shots per 90, despite an alarming lack of minutes in the league thus far.

His effectiveness when he does play is second to none, and he could well serve as Graham Potter’s secret weapon at Stamford Bridge, pouncing onto balls in the box like Frank Lampard used to.
