Chelsea are 'in talks' with a number of companies over a lucrative new shirt sponsorship deal, according to journalist Matt Law.

The Lowdown: Three deal ending...

The Premier League giant's current shirt sponsors, Three, have a deal in place until the end of this season but it looks like their agreement isn't set to be renewed.

Some Chelsea supporters reacted angrily to the telecommunications company attempting to severe ties with their club following sanctions on former owner Roman Abramovich last year.

As a result, Three's presence on the front of Chelsea's shirt appears set to come to an end, with reporter Law providing an update on the situation.

The Latest: Chelsea 'in talks' over new shirt deal...

According to the journalist, who's shared news on Twitter and in a piece for The Telegraph, Chelsea are 'in talks' over a 'lucrative' new shirt deal with various companies.

Law adds this move will 'delight supporters' given the relationship between Three and sections of the Stamford Bridge fanbase.

The report adds that owner Todd Boehly intends to 'significantly better' the current agreement with Three estimated to be worth around £40 million-per-year.

The Verdict: Great news...

The west Londoners have enjoyed 12 months of serious investment at squad level and now appears to be the time to look for potentially rich avenues of outside revenue.

Top European sides, like Man City and Real Madrid, currently hold very lucrative shirt sponsorship deals - boasting some of the biggest cash influxes on the continent in that regard.

The Premier League has become a very attractive potential pool for investors to advertise their product and generate serious income for certain sides as a result.

Chelsea, without question, can certainly shoot for a mega-money new agreement and one which they hope will trump their current Three deal.
