Chelsea target Christopher Nkunku is still yet to ‘make up his mind’ regarding a move to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Lowdown: Contrasting claims

The Athletic have claimed that the forward has already signed a pre-contract agreement to make the switch to Stamford Bridge next year, with the outlet stating that Todd Boehly is ready to cash out more than his £53m release clause.

Journalist Christian Falk later revealed that the 24-year-old has already undergone a medical to complete his transfer, though RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose has been quick to dismiss claims that a move has been agreed.

The Latest: Chelsea in pole

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sheth confirmed that Chelsea do hold the advantage in the race to sign Nkunku, but says the player isn't actually completely convinced yet.

“Look, it’s not a case of, ‘oh, have they scouted this guy? How good is he?’ Lots of European clubs and the big European clubs want this player.

“The information I’ve been given is he hasn’t fully made up his mind yet because there are still talks going on with lots of European clubs. But it does seem that Chelsea have sneaked ahead of the pack.”

The Verdict: Get it done…

Boehly has already splashed out more than £250m on new signings over the summer, but he’s clearly determined to land Nkunku and it’s easy to see why.

The Frenchman has made a remarkable 104 goal contributions in just 149 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, and already has 11 team trophies to his name, alongside an individual Player of the Season award.

Nkunku has the versatility and speed to create a wonderful partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should he make the switch to London, and the club should do everything they can to get this deal over the line as soon as possible.
