Willian was on song for Chelsea after his penalty snatched a win for the Blues in a 2-1 display over Manchester City.
Frank Lampard’s side inch three points closer to a spot in the Champions League next season thanks to a dramatic Stamford Bridge clash.
However, Willian’s contract is due to expire with the Blues and it looks like they don’t plan on renewing his deal. Once the season is up, the Brazilian will be available as a free agent for other interested clubs. Fans aren’t prepared to see him leave though and clearly value him an important part of the team.
The 31-year-old posted a photo to his Instagram of him celebrating his spot-kick against Pep Guardiola’s side. It seems that despite his inevitable departure, he is still passionate about seeing the club do well.
Willian first signed for Chelsea in 2013 from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for a fee of £30million (via BBC Sport). After seven years of service, the winger has made 331 appearances, scoring 60 goals and assisting 59 in that time (via Transfermarkt).
It’s uncertain where Willian will opt to move to following the expiry of his contract, but it will definitely be the end of an era for both the player and Chelsea fans.
