Chelsea edged through to the FA Cup semi-finals after a single goal from substitute Ross Barkley broke the deadlock.
The former Everton man netted his fourth goal of the season after an inch-perfect cross from Willian found him unmarked in the box. Barkley’s strike was enough to see off rivals Leicester and earn their place in the next round of the cup.
Chelsea have uploaded a photo of the man of the hour on Instagram and are lauding his match winning performance. However, despite his goal being the difference, many Blues fans still aren’t sold on keeping him at the club past this summer if the comments on the post are anything to go by.
Should Chelsea keep or sell Ross Barkley?
Barkley joined the London outfit in 2018 for £15 million (via BBC Sport). In the one-and-a-half seasons he has spent with the Blues, he has amassed 75 appearances and scored nine goals in that time (via Transfermarkt). He has been limited to just 15 Premier League games this campaign but has featured in the last five in a row. This is an improvement from earlier in the season where he was left out of the team on nine occasions through both injury and just not being selected.
Barkley is under contract with Chelsea until 2023, but given his lack of game time and Frank Lampard’s eye for expanding the team, the midfielder could be departing the club sooner than expected.
