Chelsea have arguably made their marquee signing of the summer after clinching a deal for Timo Werner.
The Blues were able to snub Premier League rivals Liverpool by landing a deal for the heavily-linked German target. Following on from their move for Hakim Ziyech, Frank Lampard and Co added fellow attacking threat Werner to their roster.
German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan thinks his international teammate has the entire world at his feet.
Who will be the better signing for Chelsea?
“Believe me: Timo Werner is known to every professional here at City,” the 29-year-old told SportBild (via Sport Witness). “I was asked about him by many other players, including what type of guy he is. He has earned respect.”
Chelsea have welcomed the former Bundesliga star to Cobham for his first training sessions after signing him for £45million from RB Leipzig (via Sky Sports). Lampard will hope Werner will lead the Blues’ attack by example and replicate the same numbers he tallied during the 2019/20 season.
The 24-year-old wowed football fans and professionals alike with his incredible 34 goals and 13 assists across 45 games in all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
“His career is closely monitored,” Gundogan continued. “If he is successful at Chelsea, any football fan worldwide will soon know him well.”
