Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech is on the verge of completing a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to a late update from journalist Simon Johnson.

The Lowdown: Ziyech strongly linked with exit

On Tuesday, the 29-year-old was linked with a transfer to the Ligue 1 champions, having not always been a regular for the Blues so far this season.

While Ziyech enjoyed an impressive 2022 World Cup with Morocco, helping them reach the semi-finals, he has only started four Premier League games this term.

With time very much running out in the January transfer window, it now looks as though the Moroccan will move on.

The Latest: PSG move nearly done

Taking to Twitter, Johnson provided a key update, saying terms have finally been agreed over a deadline-busting move:

"Hakim Ziyech close to finalising loan to PSG. Terms agreed with #CFC."

It looks like the playmaker will exit the club almost simultaneously as Enzo Fernandez joins, with Fabrizio Romano confirming a deal is done for the Benfica star this evening.

The Verdict: No great loss

In truth, this feels like the right time for Chelsea and Ziyech to part ways, with his performances for the Blues often flattering to deceive for large periods.

There is no denying the winger's technical ability, with Thomas Tuchel describing him as 'brilliant' in the past, but Graham Potter will want more consistent, hard-working players in his squad.

It remains to be seen what will happen at the end of this season but it feels likely that Ziyech will depart Chelsea permanently, unless he changes the manager's perception of him during his time in the French capital.
