It is stated that the Blues had a bid for Lavia rejected by Manchester City before he joined Saints instead last year, but they are now ready to go back in for him.

Lavia could be exactly what Chelsea are looking for in the middle of the park this summer, with the one-cap Belgium Under-21 international someone with a big future ahead of him.
Last year, Kevin De Bruyne backed his compatriot to become a 'top player' over time and he is already shining at the highest level, making 18 appearances in the Premier League to date.
Southampton being relegated would surely only increase Chelsea's chances of signing Lavia, with the south coast surely forced to sell him, and he is someone who should be viewed as a long-term replacement for Kante.
