Timo Werner is settling into his new life in London after making his shock move to Chelsea last month.
The transfer came as a surprise following his extended talks with Liverpool, but it was the Blues in the end who snubbed the deal.
Frank Lampard welcomed the Germany international to Stamford Bridge after the club agreed a £45million deal with RB Leipzig (via Sky Sports).
Will Timo Werner be Chelsea's top scorer next season?
After being snapped during several training sessions at Cobham, comments have been made about the prolific forward. Teammate Christian Pulisic was full of praise for him during a recent interview with chelseafc.com.
“He’s a very dangerous player,” the winger said. “I think he has some similar qualities to me and some of the attacking guys we have.”
Werner had a phenomenal season in front of goal during his final campaign with Leipzig. Although his side finished third, the 24-year-old was the Bundesliga’s second highest scorer with a mammoth 28 goals and eight assists, behind only Golden Boot winner Robert Lewandowski (via BBC Sport). Werner finished the season with a stellar 34 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.
“He’s obviously very quick and very good in front of goal,” Pulisic continued. “He seems like a humble guy. He wants to come in and work.”
The German was Lampard’s second signing of the summer after already welcoming fellow attacker Hakim Ziyech to the Bridge. The two new recruits will likely be the main focus of the Chelsea attack as the team challenge in both the Premier League and Champions League.
