Jose Mourinho’s opinions on Frank Lampard have come to light after comments were pulled from the new Amazon Prime documentary All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur.
The former midfielder is a player that the Portuguese manager knows very well. Lampard was a vital part of Mourinho’s midfield at Stamford Bridge and together, they lifted two Premier League trophies and an FA Cup.
Will Chelsea win a trophy under Frank Lampard?
The Blues clawed their way to a top four finish after a rocky start to their 2019/20 Premier League season and Lampard has since brought in five senior players to help bolster his chances of major silverware in 2020/21.
In the All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur documentary, Mourinho described Lampard as ‘professional’ during his playing days, before branding him ‘the best I’ve ever seen’ (via Metro).
Indeed, the player-turned-coach set some huge records during his time in a Chelsea kit, including his still-unmatched goalscoring record of 211 goals in blue.
After reaching his one-year milestone at the hilt of the west London club, Lampard has led Chelsea to a Champions League spot and has had a very successful transfer window. He has enticed the likes of Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner and Thiago Silva through the door, with more signings potentially still to be announced.
The Blues will certainly be a team to keep an eye on this season as Lampard aims to dethrone Liverpool as Premier League champions.
