The future of N’Golo Kante is becoming a hot topic amongst fans and professionals alike as his current status warrants somewhat of a question mark.
Chelsea have recruited heavily this transfer window and most recently welcomed Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva to the club to help balance their squad. Prior to their arrivals they had scooped attackers Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, leaving the defence to run the risk of being outperformed.
Should Chelsea keep or sell N'Golo Kante?
However, despite highlighting the need for more defensive signings, Kante could be leaving the West London outfit this window. The Frenchman is said to be admired by former boss Antonio Conte, who is reportedly working hard to meet Chelsea’s €50million (£44.1m) asking price.
Andros Townsend, 29, has had his say on the idea of Kante leaving Chelsea this window and claims he would transform United’s midfield.
“He is the best player in the world in that position,” the Crystal Palace star told talkSPORT. “If, hypothetically, he went to Man United, he would make them title challengers.
“Not only because they’ve got N’Golo Kante, but the freedom it’ll allow Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes to play higher up the field.”
The Reds finished third in the Premier League last season after knocking Leicester out of the top four. However, they will want to push on and challenge for the title, something Chelsea are also looking to do.
“I hope he’s still got a place at Chelsea. Like I said, he’s the best player in the world in that position,” Townsend continued. “I’d like to think he can get back into the team and get playing as well as we know he can. But only Frank [Lampard] can answer that question.”
