Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make a summer swoop for Willian as his contract stalemate with Chelsea continues.

The Brazilian playmaker has attracted attention following his form since the Premier League restarted, particularly as his current contract is about to expire. According to Football Insider, Jose Mourinho is keen on taking Willian to Spurs and is lining up a lucrative deal to convince him to make the move across London.

In an interview with Expediente Futebol (via Football Insider), the 31-year-old revealed that Chelsea are only willing to offer him a two-year extension on his contract. However, the winger is looking to pen another three years.

"I think it will be very difficult for me to renew because Chelsea offered me two years, I asked for three and it ended there, we didn’t talk anymore, we didn’t negotiate anymore," Willian said. "Three years – Chelsea said it would be impossible, so for now there’s this difficulty."

If the Blues can't make a three-year deal work or otherwise convince the Brazilian to stay, he will be on the market as a free agent once the season ends.

Willian has been involved in seven of Chelsea's goals since the restart, netting four and assisting three in six appearances (via Sofascore). His recent contributions take him to 63 goals and 62 assists in his time at Chelsea (via Transfermarkt). If he becomes available for free this summer, clubs will be swarming for his signature.

Mourinho's side haven't been up to scratch this season, earning just 49 points and sitting in a disappointing 9th place in the Premier League table. To bring in a proven goalscorer like Willian would be a huge step in the right direction for Tottenham – their current right wingers on record have scored just six league goals between them this season whilst the Brazilian boasts nine on his own (via Transfermarkt).

However, Chelsea would be foolish to let Willian go without a fight this summer. With the current form he is in, he could be an integral part of Frank Lampard's team that hopes to challenge for the league title next season.
