Kai Havertz has left the Germany training camp and is headed to London to finalise his move to Chelsea, the Daily Star reports.

After months of talks and huge figures circulating, the 21-year-old is finally set to embark on his Premier League career after leaving international duty.

Havertz is set to fly the flag of Chelsea as he looks to complete a record move from Bayer Leverkusen. He will smash the club's record for most expensive signing by overtaking Kepa Arrizabalaga's £71million. The Blues have agreed to pay a mammoth total of £90million for the midfielder, which includes the initial transfer fee plus add-ons.

The playmaker attracted attention from all across Europe after his impressive 2019/20 season. He scored 12 goals and assisted a further six in the Bundesliga, taking his total campaign tally to 18 goals and nine assists (via Transfermarkt).

Havertz didn't come off the bench on Thursday in Germany's Nations League match against Spain. This was reportedly to ensure no late injuries scuppered his lucrative move ahead of the all-important medical with Chelsea.

It's no secret that Frank Lampard has been itching to welcome Havertz to the club after a long transfer window kept talks ongoing. The German reportedly settled for the Blues after a dream move to Real Madrid collapsed due to the financial impact of coronavirus.

However, this won't be an issue for Lampard, who will now boast one of the most threatening attacks in the Premier League. After he signs, Havertz will join Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic as the Blues look to bridge the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool.

This update will be a major boost for Chelsea who have been waiting patiently for these talks to come to fruition. With Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell also over the threshold, Lampard's last necessity is a new goalkeeper.

Once a replacement for Kepa has been recruited, the West Londoners will be ready to challenge for the crown once more.
