The Kai Havertz to Chelsea saga shows no sign of ending, and now reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided a key update on Marina Granovskaia’s pursuit of the 6ft 2 sensation.
Havertz, who shone for Bayer Leverkusen last season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants, has been a man on Chelsea’s wanted list since the transfer window commenced at the beginning of the month.
Who would be Chelsea's best signing of the window?
Having already secured deals for Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, with both players moving to Stamford Bridge for a combined total of £80 million, the Blues’ business doesn’t look to be stopping there – with journalist Romano claiming there is a ‘new meeting soon’ and the club are ‘confident’ they can land Havertz. Consistently in talks to sign the player, Romano claims that Granovskaia and co were at the negotiating table on Wednesday to try and find an agreement but to no avail.
Romano states that Leverkusen want to decide whether or not to accept Chelsea’s bid by the end of August, with the player apparently waiting and eager on a move to Stamford Bridge.
The ‘work in progress‘, as Romano labels it, could very well come to a close soon – and supporters will be hoping that their club can get a deal over the line for a player who has thoroughly impressed.
Judging by the Italian journalist’s latest update, it appears fans have reason to be excited as the saga raves on.
