Chelsea have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Bundesliga Kai Havertz after he admitted he can see himself in blue.
The German starlet, who has attracted a lot of attention this season, is on the radar of Frank Lampard. Chelsea are reportedly very keen on bringing the midfielder to Stamford Bridge and it seems the feeling is mutual.
According to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk (via Sport Witness), Havertz has admitted he ‘can imagine’ himself playing in the Premier League and specifically for Chelsea.
Will Kai Havertz end up at Chelsea next season?
The 21-year-old has lit up the Bundesliga this season with some seriously impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen. He joins the links of Timo Werner and Jadon Sancho in having some serious interest shown in him from England.
So far this season, Havertz has scored 11 goals and assisted five in the Bundesliga alone, tallying 15 goals and eight assists across all competitions (via Transfermarkt). His statistics and ability on the ball are being monitored by fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United and Newcastle, so the Blues must act fast if they don’t want to risk losing out on signing the playmaker.
If both club and player are happy to make the move happen, the only thing getting in the way is the price tag. According to Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz (via Football London), Havertz will cost about £90m if he is to leave the club this summer.
This is unquestionably a hefty amount of cash, but Chelsea still seem to be interested in bringing the 21-year-old to London.
Real Madrid are reportedly looking to sign N’Golo Kante ahead of next term, who will demand a fee in the area of €80m (£71.1m), according to AS (via Sport Witness). If a deal is finalised between Chelsea and the La Liga side, they could have a huge chunk of money gathered towards the acquisition of Havertz.
If a player is this keen on joining, the club should surely be pulling out all the stops to make it happen.
