A move for Chelsea’s Pedro hangs in the balance as Roma suspend sporting director Gianluca Petrachi.
The Spaniard, who is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, had all but penned his next move to the Italian capital (via football.london). However, the club have announced the suspension of Petrachi following a ‘furious row’ with president James Pallotta over the club’s recruitment policy (via Football Italia).
With the sporting director out of the picture, it’s uncertain whether Pedro will complete his move away from Chelsea this summer to Rome. This is likely to cause concern for the Spaniard, whose contract in West London is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Will Kai Havertz be a Chelsea player next season?
The World Cup winner joined Chelsea in 2015 from Barcelona and has gone on to play 201 games for them so far, scoring 43 goals and providing 28 assists (Transfermarkt).
His departure will not leave a gap in the squad however, as the Blues have already signed two new forwards in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Werner is likely to be Chelsea’s marquee signing ahead of next season, boasting seriously impressive numbers with RB Leipzig this term. The forward has tallied 26 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga, which takes him to a total so far of 32 goals in 43 games across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
If the Roma move is off, Pedro will have to reconsider his options and look elsewhere for a move this summer.
