Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Uruguayan teenager Facundo Pellistri this summer.
According to Calciomercato (via The Mirror), the Blues are eyeing up a move for the 18-year-old right winger, who could potentially be Willian’s replacement at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian is yet to agree new terms with the London outfit and could be heading for the exit at the end of the season.
In an interview with Fox Sports (via The Mirror), Willian revealed that he and the club are at a stalemate with contract negotiations.
Would you like to see Willian leave or stay at Chelsea?
“I think it will be very difficult for me to renew because Chelsea offered me two years, I asked for three and it ended there, we didn’t talk anymore, we didn’t negotiate anymore,” the winger said.
Unless new terms are met, Willian will be on the market this summer as a free agent and will be able to join the club of his choice. If Frank Lampard has no intention of meeting the Brazilian’s asks, he could seek to bring in Pellistri as a replacement.
Although he isn’t exactly a tried-and-tested player at senior level as of yet, Pellistri should fit Lampard’s setup well. The 42-year-old manager has put a lot of faith in young talent such as Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Reece James, so moulding another youngster could be an exciting challenge for him.
If Willian does stay, however, the Uruguayan teenager could then provide good cover on the right-hand side and add more depth to Chelsea’s attack.
