John Terry is fuelling the fire of Chelsea’s transfer speculation after uploading a snap of him and Declan Rice.
The Blues icon, who made 712 appearances for the West Londoners, has teased the club’s supporters by posing for a picture alongside the 21-year-old.
Would you like to see Chelsea sign Declan Rice?
The two defenders are seen posing in front of a swimming pool, possibly on holiday together. Terry has asked fans to imagine a centre-back partnership between him and Rice in the caption, whilst lauding the youngster for being an ‘unbelievable player’.
Chelsea have made the West Ham star one of their main targets of the summer. Frank Lampard recently tabled an offer of three players to the East London side, in hopes of striking a swap deal. The club offered up Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori and Michy Batshuayi to the Irons, stating they were willing to part with ‘one or more’ of the three (via Football Insider).
However, West Ham have hit back and do not want to partake in a swap deal. They have demanded a cash offer for Rice and Chelsea must be prepared to bid at least £65million in order for the Hammers to consider letting the versatile defender leave this summer.
Chelsea want to bolster their defensive line ahead of next season after conceding the most goals out of the top ten in the Premier League. Rice will be able to switch between playing as a centre-back or in midfield depending on opposition – his versatility would make for a very beneficial asset to Lampard’s team.
